Finally pushed to the breaking point, Amy runs away from home.

A young woman is attacked by a shark and later dies, but it's discovered that she was shot first. The case becomes even more difficult for the CSIs when one of their coworkers becomes a leading suspect. The dead woman worked for a private-investigation agency that specializes in luring and entrapping married men suspected of infidelity.

Dee Dee's cousin Barbara comes to town for Big Dee Dee's baby shower, and stays with Mona because there is no room at Dee Dee's place. Mona is furious to learn from Barbara that Dee Dee shared things that Mona had told her in confidence about the effect her mother's bitterness has had on her feelings about marriage. Mona gives Dee Dee the silent treatment, but later has a talk with Phyllis about her fears. Big Dee Dee dreads the shower because she knows the guests will insist on touching her belly. Meanwhile, Spencer gets a makeover from Adam and some friends in the hopes of impressing Camille's social crowd.

When Flex falls for Sheila, an ambitious, sexy sports columnist, he is willing to do anything for her, including bribing Breanna to tutor her son Eric. But when Eric is caught stealing Flex's stories from his computer to give to his mother, Flex and Breanna team up to seek revenge.

Toni is furious to discover that Todd failed to deliver a message from a remorseful Greg before the wedding. Todd fears that Toni still has feelings for Greg and threatens to leave her if she sees him. Toni declares that Todd needs to trust her; she ignores his ultimatum and meets with Greg anyway. Meanwhile, Joan is devastated when William's nephew/son cries every time she holds him, as she sees it a a sign that she wouldn't be a good mother. After Jabari tells Maya and Lynn that his classmates think they are lesbians, Maya angers Lynn by saying that she wouldn't even be her type.

Meanwhile, Holly and Richard work on their merchandising scheme, which involves a Shakespeare themed village of retail stores. Geoffrey is finally forced to fire Darren as director, to the relief of the cast but the worry of the Board of Directors.

Matt and Sarah begin their student rotation in the ER, but get off to a bad start by arriving late and angering Dr. Norton, the attending ER physician. Matt and Sarah's relationship is tested when Matt quickly demonstrates an aptitude for the work, but Sarah accuses him of trying to make himself look better than the other students, especially her. However, Matt ends up looking foolish when he can't figure out how to turn off the ringer on his cell phone and he gets stuck fielding calls from his family. Matt's day ends tragically, leaving him to question his destiny.

Meanwhile, Uncle Pete's drinking is getting in the way of his relationship with Nancy (Alicia Coppola); Helen is concerned about Will's state of mind as he recovers from his operation; Sam's getting interested in Malcolm X; and Patty makes a friend.
